Unfortunately, at least so far, there isn’t any kind of official certification given to tattoo artists that complete their education. There are no formal schools, and no diplomas. There are many “scratchers” out there that are tattooing without the benefit of any kind of training, and as long as they are licensed in their state, it is perfectly legal. Even illegal tattooists get plenty of business. That is why it is so important to be sure these other guidelines are being strictly followed to be sure you will be receiving quality.
