First Tattoo

Lessons Learned After The First Tattoo

Getting your first tattoo is very special, especially for those who are quite passionate about styling with tattoos. Since, it is said that every first experience teaches your great lessons; your first tattoo experience also does the same. Have a look what lessons you can learn from your tattoo experience.

First Tattoo

What if you’re being asked about your first tattoo experience? Everyone would probably say things like it was painful, but fun, loved it, etc.! Isn’t it?
But, what if I ask you what did you learn from your first tattoo experience? Numb!!!!
Here’s what can be your answer….

1. It’s Painless!

It definitely hurts to every normal person! And, every person is normal – with regular nerve and skin structure. But, the reality is that the more you think it to be painful, the more you feel it. Think of the needle and you’ll feel pain in your body. So, the first thing you should learn from your experience is that divert your mind in other things to avoid feeling the intense pain.. that actually occurs while getting inked.

2. You Attract What You’re

Quite obvious, but people often don’t realize this. When it comes to deciding the design of the tattoo you want to get inked, your preference depends upon your taste. For instance, if you’re a music lover, you’ll feel like getting music tones as tattoo. Give it a though!

3. Think Before You Get It Done.

Understand that, it won’t go with constant washing. This means that it’s your decision to get the tattoo done, and with all that pain you tolerated, it won’t disappear. You might sometimes feel a strange remorse carousel, making you feel if you could reverse the action. Come On! It’s not possible. So, better make up your mind and take firm decision.

4. You Become What You Say You Are

“If you’re constantly in contact with something, you are adapting, you are adjusting, you are eventually becoming one with that something“. If you plan yourself in a certain context, sooner or later you become one with that context, either by changing yourself to fit in, or by attracting some favorable circumstances.

5. Just Do It!

The most important lesson, probably! DO it when you really want it or else take time to rethink. This isn’t technically a lesson, but instead a kind of reinforcement. If you really want to do something, get it done while you got the chance to. Do it when you want to! Also, if you postpone too much, you may lose it entirely.

6. Take Care!

Getting tattoo requires a lot of care – both before and later. Before care, as you need to prepare yourself as well as your body to undergo the procedure. And after care because you want to avoid unwanted circumstance that can affect you mentally, physically, emotionally and even financially. Often people take this care for granted and has to bear a lot in future. Its better to take prevention than to take treatments later throughout life.

Hope these lessons will inspire you during your first tattoo experience!

Insomnia and diabetes

From Insomnia to Diabetes

According to a new research published recently in Diabetologia, middle-aged and elderly who take get less than six hours sleep a night regularly tends to be at a greater risk of developing type 2 diabetes. The news gets worse with the finding that people who manage to add two hours a night to their sleep also raise their risk of developing diabetes. Wondering!!! But true.

The link between sleep patterns and the hazards of developing adult diabetes has been reinforced by the study conducted on almost 60,000 women aged between 55 and 83.

Insomnia and diabetes

The study conducted by Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health and Kaiser Permanent research division in Oakland, Calif., unveiled that women who chronically sleep six hours or less per day, and even those who increase their sleep duration by more than two hours per day have the modest increased risk of developing type 2 diabetes, according to a press release.

However after the adjustments were made for body-mass index, while associations of increases in sleep duration with diabetes continued, connections of chronic short sleep duration with diabetes became meaningless. Particularly, women who added more time into their sleep hours were more likely to have been short sleepers to begin with suggesting that the hostile impact of short sleep duration in mid-life may not be compensated for later increases in sleep duration.

How To Prevent Diabetes Due To Insomnia?

Diabetics often struggle with poor sleep patterns, including difficulty falling asleep or staying asleep. As per the reports of the National Sleep Foundation, about 63 percent of American adults do not get enough sleep needed for good health, safety, and optimum performance. Obesity or too much body fat is also associated with snoring and apnea. And obesity also increases the risk of diabetes, heart disease, high blood pressure, stroke and arthritis.

1. Create A Transition Routine
Don’t stick to the same boring routine before going to bed. Keep on changing the activities. It could be letting the cat out, turning off the lights, and turning down the heat, washing your face and brushing your teeth. Also, you can do a series of yoga or meditation exercises. However, it should be consistent. As you start to move into your “nightly routine,” your mind will get the signal that it’s time to chill out, physiologically preparing you for sleep.

2. Take A Hot Bath Before Bedtime
A study published in the journal Sleep found that women with insomnia who took a hot bath at this point slept much better that night. The bath increased their body temperature that shortly dropped once they got out of the bath, preparing them for sleep.

3. Clean Your Bedroom And Paint It A Soothing Sage Green.
Or any other soothing color! Remove the clutter from your bedroom; it offers a distraction and stands in the way of a good night sleep. A soothing color provides a visual reminder of sleep, easing your mind as you lie in bed reading or preparing for sleep.

4. Give Yourself A Massage.
Slowly move the tips of your fingers around your eyes in a slow, circular motion. After a minute, move down to your face, down to neck and the back of your head! Continue down your body until you’re ready to drop off to sleep.

5. Move It!
Researchers in Northwestern University’s Department of Neurobiology and Physiology revealed that previously inactive adults who got aerobic exercise four times a week saw improvement in their sleep quality from poor to good. These former couch potatoes also reported fewer depressive symptoms, more vitality, and less sleepiness during the daytime. Make sure to wrap up your workout session several hours before bedtime so that you’re not too accelerated up to get a good night’s sleep.

Type-2 Diabetes

Dealing With The Postpartum Type 2 Gestational Diabetes

Pregnancy is the time when women are vulnerable to diseases, miscarriage, and deficiencies which can even affect them for the rest of the life. Such problems not only affect the health of woman but also the health of newborn. Diabetes is one such disease which is known to affect many women during pregnancy. Although symptoms of gestational diabetes disappear once the child is born but women with this type of diabetes have chances of developing type 2 diabetes in later years.

The following article is about risks involved with gestational diabetes and the ways to reduce it.

Type-2 Diabetes
Researchers of the Institute of Diabetes Research (IDF) at Helmholtz Zentrum München in Germany have found a way that can help to predict if there are chances of developing type 2 diabetes post-childbirth. They studied 257 gestational diabetes cases documented between 1989 and 1999 and then followed the patients for next 20 years post-delivery. The research was led by Professor Anette-Gabriele Ziegler director of IDF.

The conclusion of the study was that 110 women were diagnosed with post-childbirth type 2 diabetes within the 20-year follow-up period.

The first author of the study Meike Köhler said “Body mass index (BMI) and genetic predisposition both play a role in our calculation, as does the question of whether the mother breastfed her baby and whether her gestational diabetes had to be treated with insulin”.
The researches had built a ‘point system’ to find the woman’s risk of developing post-pregnancy type 2 diabetes. Women who had low-risk scores have 11 percent risk of developing diabetes in the next five years following childbirth whereas women with medium-risk scores at 29 to 64 percent risk and those with high-risk scores have over 80 percent risk.

This test can soon make it to clinics to predict the possibility of postpartum type 2 diabetes. This help can help doctors to save their patients from risks of developing diabetes in future.
Risks Involved with Gestational Diabetes

Following are some risks involved with Gestational Diabetes which can affect any woman after child birth.

Type 2 Diabetes: If a women shows symptoms of gestational diabetes during pregnancy she is likely to suffer from type 2 diabetes post-delivery. The American Diabetes Association recommends that every woman who has a medical history of gestational diabetes should go for a two-hour glucose tolerance test at six weeks and every three years after childbirth.

Weight Control: If a woman who had gestational diabetes during her pregnancy fails to control their weight post birth can develop symptoms of gestational diabetes during their next pregnancy and type 2 diabetes in later years of their life.

Depression: Women with gestational diabetes during pregnancy can develop postpartum depression whereas women who did not have diabetes during pregnancy are at much lesser risk.

What Can You Do to Reduce Your Risks After Gestational Diabetes?

Some of the symptoms of gestational diabetes are sadness, anger, problems in sleeping, exhaustion, loss of appetite, constant anxiety. If you have any such symptoms you should consult the doctor right away to get the right medical care.

Follow A Strict Diet And Exercise Schedule: It’s important to maintain your health and weight and this can be done with the help of healthy diet and exercise. Intake of diet rich in fruits, grains, and vegetables, and taking out at least 30 minutes of exercise daily will reduce risk for future health issues.

Breastfeeding Is Important: If you are consuming the right diet then breastfeeding is totally safe and recommended for you. Even studies suggest that breastfed babies have lower chance of being overweight as an adult. It will even help you lose weight post pregnancy and reduce risk of type 2 diabetes.

Follow doctor’s instructions: Don’t use your own brains when it comes to your health and don’t forget you are at high risk of being affected with type 2 diabetes. Thus, follow doctor’s advice and get all necessary tests done.

Difference Between Major and Minor Surgery

Difference Between Major and Minor Surgery

Often people have confusion about the differences between minor and major surgeries. Continue to learn about the pints of differentiation between both forms.

Difference Between Major and Minor Surgery

Minor Surgery

A minor surgery is any procedure that neither penetrates a body cavity, nor encourages permanent impairment of any bodily functions. Procedures like superficial vascular cut down, endoscopy, laparoscopy, implanting pumps in subcutaneous tissue, etc., are minor surgeries. However, these surgeries demand clean and sterile surgery space, tools and techniques. Also, there is no ban against multiple minor survival procedures. It requires good professional judgment to limit the number of minor surgical procedures performed on any individual. It may possess great risks.
Any invasive operative practice in which only skin or the mucus membranes and connective tissue eviscerated falls under the category of minor surgery. Procedures like tooth extractions, gingival grafts, etc., in which the surgical field cannot be effectively disinfected are usually considered minor. Another example can be the biopsy, which is an invasive operative process done to procure the tissue samples or body fluids using a needle for further examination.

Minor surgeries may be carried out in a laboratory setting using suitable aseptic techniques, which includes a clean working space, preparation and sterilization of the surgical site including surgical scrub of the skin, clipping of the hair, covering of the surgical site with sterile drapes, mask by the surgeon and any assistants working in the surgical field.

Major Surgery

Any surgical procedure that penetrates and exposes a body cavity or any intervention that has the potential for encouraging permanent anatomic or physiologic impairment, or any procedure related to orthopedics or extensive tissue dissection or transection can be classified as major surgery.

Major surgery for non-human primates must be performed in dedicated amenities that are specifically designed, functioned, and maintained for that purpose only. Cold-blooded vertebrate surgeries should be performed in a clean room or laboratory, that too aseptically.

Major surgery is any invasive operation in which a more extensive resection is performed. The procedure may include entering a body cavity, removing of organs, or altering of the normal anatomy. In general, any surgery is categorized as major if a mesenchymal barrier is opened.

All major surgical techniques must use appropriate surgical procedures and must be conducted in facilities intended for survival surgery only. These facilities should be designed and maintained in a way to ensure a level of sanitation suitable for uninfected and sterile surgery. The operation room or theater should contain all the equipment and supplies required to support the procedure being carried out. In addition, a separate area, other than the surgery room must be provided for preparing the individual for surgery. An area equipped with surgical scrub sinks should also be apart from the operating room. Yet another surgical-support space should be provided for storing instruments and sterile supplies and for washing and sterilizing instruments. All these requirements are a must to carry out a harmless and safe major surgery.

For surgical procedures that do not clearly fall in both these categories, the chance for significant unintended microbial contamination should be a primary consideration. Usually, the classification of major will be applied only to procedures in which the individual is expected to survive longer. Or else, techniques applicable to minor surgical procedures may be used.

Moreover, a procedure previously classified as minor will be altered to major if microbial contamination proves to be a significant problem.
