Being an unpleasant condition, hemorrhoids turn out to very painful. While the pain is hard to get rid of as these are generally intense and itchy, these can interfere with your life greatly. Learning about them in advance can be really helpful.
Not one or two, around more than 4% of the people all over the globe experience hemorrhoid pain. Yes, it is one of the most common problems people face. But only few know about it. Lack of information and the hesitation to share it with others is the biggest reason for making problem severe. In fact, it is one of the skin problem about which people are widely uneducated, including the causes of the condition.
Not anymore! Here is the detailed information to guide you about hemorrhoid pain and the reason of occurrence. Let’s first learn how they form;
How they occur?
Basically, hemorrhoids occur when increased pressure in exerted on the pelvic veins. This pressure causes veins in the anal canal to swell, making it to stretch out of the shape. The pressure increase can be due to persistent diarrhea or constipation, rushing to complete a bowel movement, or factors such as being overweight or pregnant. Actually, the persistent pressure weakens the tissues in the anal canal, which support the veins. When the tissues start getting weak, they fail to hold the veins in place and the swollen veins and tissues bulge internally or externally.
This skin condition can be divided into two categories;
- Internal hemorrhoids: This one generally doesn’t grow larger. But this is possible only when the bowel habits and other factors are changed in order to lower the pressure on the veins in the bowel. For the large internal hemorrhoids, which may bulge from the anus, it is sometimes required after bowel movement to push them back through the anus.
- External hemorrhoids: The most important thing you need to know is that in case of external hemorrhoids, there may not appear any symptoms. Hence, in early stage you might not be aware that you are suffering from hemorrhoids.
But when a vein within an external hemorrhoid gets irritated, blood can clot under the skin, resulting into formation of a hard and bluish lump. It is termed as thrombosed, or clotted hemorrhoid and yes, it is highly painful.
Lastly, you need to know that in rare cases, hemorrhoids may bulge through the anus too. Actually, the muscles which control the opening and closing of the anus, it may cut off a hemorrhoid’s blood supply. And the worst thing is that this can cause the hemorrhoid tissues to die. So, the affected feel severe rectal pain. Blood and pus at the anus can be observed in this case.
