Warm weathers not only bring humidity and hotness but also invite bugs. Bugs love biting and once they bite, they make your skin itchy. Once you feel itchy, the first thing that arises in your mind is to get rid of itching and you start with the treatment.

The treatment needs your fingers and affected area. You run your fingers on affected area thereby worsening the condition. In nutshell, you opt scratching as amean to treat your itchy area.

What happens when mosquito bites?

The mosquito or any other insects leaves behind their saliva after biting. Skin gets alert and rings an alarm (by releasing a protein called histamines) as soon as they found saliva invader. The army named White Blood Cells (WBCs) rush to the affected area. They expand and keep on multiplying thereby irritating the nerves around them, resulting in an itch.

There are many natural routes which you can follow when you get an insect bite. Few of them will be discussed in the article:

  • Cold Pack to put an itch in a sack

Ice or cold pack numbs the nerve which causes itchiness and pain by bringing down the temperature on to the affected area. The production of the blood cells in the affected area decreases on decrease in temperature, numbing the skin.

Although the applied heat in form of hot water results in same effect but this effect is limited for a very short period of time. Once the application of heat is over, histamine will be released again and will worsen the itching.

  • Spend some money on honey

Just apply a dab of honey on to the affected area and you will find honey sweeter than ever. Its anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial properties help to easy itchy bites. Number of lotions and balms come with honey as a major ingredient.

Apart from relieving itching, honey also helps to treat dry skin and burns.

  • Optimise use of Vinegar

Never underestimate any ingredient present in your kitchen. Vinegar is one of them. The acidity present in vinegar helps to get rid of itchy skin. Vinegar can be used in two ways to treat itchiness: either by putting few drops on cotton and wiping an individual bite or by mixing 2-3 cups of vinegar in bath water which should be warm, thereby treating all the infected sites.

  • Tea Bag

Tea Bag can ease swelling on bites. A component of tea called tannis takes away extra fluid out of the bite.

Soak a tea bag in warm water for a short time followed by application of wet tea bag on to the affected area. Leave the tea bag on your infected area for 15 to 20 minutes to get the desired results.

  • Oatmeal for proper heal

Oatmeal is not only your favourite breakfast meal but also a best remedy against insect bite. It relieves itching swelling because of its anti-irritant properties.

Mix equal amount of water and oatmeal in a bowl and prepare a paste. Place some paste onto a cloth. Apply the cloth on to the irritated skin for about 10 minutes followed by cleaning the area. In case of many insect bites, oatmeal bath is preferred for about 20 minutes.

  • Aloe Vera

Aloe Vera has myriad benefits so why treating insect bites can be left behind. They treat bites in very effective manner. The gel present inside the aloe leaf has anti-inflammatory properties that support healing minor wounds or calm infections.

Just peel small section of plant and extract the gel out of the leaf. Apply the gel to the infected area. Let the area get dry and then repeat the entire treatment till you achieve the desired results.

  • Slap or Pinch to remove itch’s every inch

Brain is a multi-tasking organ which is very smart. But still it can be fooled and can be distracted. Slapping yourself sounds weird but it actually works. The brain can only hold one felling at a time. On slapping when pain takes over the sensation of itchiness, itching vanishes.

Gently and firmly squeeze the bite. It is another way to get rid of itchy skin. It is understandable that this method is a temporary relief from itchiness but when there is nothing else available, opt for temporary solution.

The most obvious way to get rid of mosquito or insect bite is to avoid the bite of an insect. Take precautions in advance. Cover your skin and stay away from standing water as they are home to mosquitoes. Still, in case you are bit by an insect, don’t scratch the infected area, instead, follow the natural remedies as mentioned in article.
