5 Easy DIY Tattoo Tips for Stick and Poke Tattoos at Home
Here are the easy steps to make stick and poke tattoos at home.
If you have heard about stick and poke tattoos, you may have thought to do it yourself at home. This is because they don’t need expertise at that level like you have in tattoo studios. As the name says, all you need to poke the design with the inked needle. However, it doesn’t mean that it is as easy as pie. Because there are lots of things you need to keep in mind which have roundup following in easy steps.
Choose Your Design:
First of all, think what kind of design you want to have and its placement on your body. Search online, see friend tattoos or draw your own on the paper; there are many ideas to find your favorite one. This is the stage of accepting and rejecting tattoos, so you must not settle on one just because you are fed up of continuous searching. Take time and start your searching. Minimal tattoos are best for DIY stick poke tattoos as they require less labor and time as well.
Gather Your Tools:
After hitting upon the perfect tattoo design, it’s a time to collect the necessary tools including pen, pencil, thread, fine sewing needles, Indian ink and alcohol swab. Don’t forget Dr. Numb numbing cream as you need to poke your skin with the needles at later stages.
Disinfect Your Skin:
Wash your hands and the skin area with warm water and antiseptic soap. Apply Dr. Numb numbing cream on the area you want to have tattoo. After an hour, wipe it off and draw your favorite tattoo on this spot.
Get Ready Your Tattoo Needle:
Before starting, please don’t use any worn out and rusty needle. Always bring the new one, and if you don’t have, you can sterilize it. To sterilize your needle, boil it in water for 15 minutes or immerse it in an alcohol for few minutes. Although you can use sewing needles, tattoo needles are best for this purpose. You can also rotate the needle pointing end over the flame till it becomes glowing red to disinfect it.
Tie the needle at the one end of your pencil with a thread. Make sure it is firmly secured as any looseness can affect your poking. You may like to secure it with a tape.
Apply the Ink and Poke the Design:
It’s time to ink up the needle with the Indian ink. Just dip the tip of the needle in it. Don’t use ballpoint pen ink for that. Now use that ink covered needle to poke a hole into your design.
If you have used numbing cream, you will feel less hurt. Once your stick and poke tattoo is healed, the swelling will be gone.
So, with these steps you can make stick and poke tattoos at home. But it is better to take experienced friend’s assistance if you are not confident about that.
